Happy May Day! - May 1, 2020

Dear First Graders,

      Good morning. Happy Friday! Happy May Day! Today is the very first day of May. I have had so much fun talking to you this week on Google Hangouts! I just felt like I could be your teacher again and help you and support you. Please keep reading, and feel free to read me a story when we chat. I have already heard some great stories! I can't wait to talk with you again on Monday.

April 30, 2020 - It's the Last Day of April!

Dear First Graders,

      Good morning. Happy Thursday! This week has gone by so fast! I can't believe tomorrow will be Friday. I can't thank you all enough for taking the time to chat with me this week on Google Hangouts. I have loved seeing all of the hard work you've been doing, and hearing all the stories you've read to me. Just think, in a little over a month you are going to be second graders! I can't believe it!   
     Enjoy your butterfly lessons today. I can't wait to see how your Fun Time activity turns out. I hope you get a chance to try it. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it!

Remote Learning Lessons - April 29, 2020

Dear Hard Working First Graders,

      Good morning. Happy Wednesday! Thank to those of you who were able to chat with me yesterday about the work you've been completing. Some of you even took the time to read me some wonderful stories. You know how much I love books! I probably love books and reading even more than I love m&m's, and that's a lot! I really liked the way you used your reading strategies to help you figure out any words you weren't sure of. One of you even remembered that you can skip the word and come back to it!
     I hope you have fun working on all of your lessons today. I realized after talking to you yesterday that you are learning a lot about butterflies. Well done! Since today would be the day we go to the library, don't forget to read a great story to someone at home today, maybe even one of your furry friends! Have fun learning today.

Remote Learning Lessons - April 28, 2020

Dear First Graders,

      Good morning. Happy Tuesday! I had so much fun chatting with a lot of you yesterday! I can't wait to talk with you today about the work you've been doing. Thank you to those of you who showed me your butterflies. I hope you got to hang them up so others will be able to enjoy them, too. 

      I hope you enjoy working on today's remote learning lessons. You'll continue to learn about butterflies. I've always found butterflies to be so interesting, and each one is so unique. Just like all of you!

Welcome Back to Your Remote Learning Lessons! - April 27, 2020

Dear First Graders,
   
     Good morning. Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous vacation with your families. I tried hard to relax and find time to just have some fun. I got out in my kayak on Saturday. I was the only person on the pond, but I did see a few ducks. It was quiet out on the water, and very relaxing. I got a good workout, too!
      I'm looking forward to chatting with you each day about your lessons. If you haven't signed up yet to chat with me, please take the time to do that. I really want the opportunity to see your work and what you've been up to. And I'm just really excited to get to see you each day!

Last Remote Lessons Before April Vacation! April 17, 2020

Dear Hard Working First Graders,

     Good morning. Happy Friday! Today's remote learning lessons will be your last lessons until April 27th, as next week is April vacation. Thank you to those of you who took the time to post a comment on my blog, letting me know how you can help take care of the Earth. You had some great ideas!
     Today you're going to finish up your Earth Day lessons. Have fun learning all about what our planet Earth is like. I especially hope you try out the 'Fun Time' activity today. If you do, I would love to see how your's turns out!

Write all of the words that you are able to make with the letters in these two words. For example, in the word planet I see the word net. In the word Earth I see the letters h, e, a, and t - those letters spell the word heat. I bet you are going to be able to find so many words! Do you think you can make at least 20 words?!

I could tell that you worked very hard yesterday, and you looked like you were enjoying your remote lessons. A lot of you mentioned that you liked the science experiment a lot, along with the Fun Time activity. You got very creative with that! Well done.

Remote Learning Lesson - Wednesday, April 15, 2020

Dear Amazing First Graders,

        Good morning. Happy Wednesday! I'm sorry I wasn't able to post your remote learning lessons for Friday and Monday. I hope you got the message that Mrs. Stone posted yesterday to let you know I still didn't have any power and to let you know you could get your lessons on Mrs. Lausier's blog. I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
     This week the focus of your remote learning lessons is Earth day. I hope you have fun doing your science experiment today! I also hope you get to do the 'Fun Time' activity. If you do I would love to see a picture of what you create.
      Anthony, it sounds like you had an amazing birthday on Saturday! Did you like your mom's surprise? She must think you are a special little boy to do that for you. I couldn't believe how many cars drove by and honked their birthday wishes to you!
      Today is Wednesday, and you would go visit the library. So I'm going to ask you to pick a book from your 'library' and read it to someone at home. If you get stuck on any words remember the reading strategies we've worked on this year at school.
